Shamanism + Indigenous Spirituality + Ecopsychology: What are they and how can they help?
What is it.
Shamanic healing is an ancient practice rooted in the belief that illness results from disruptions in the balance between the mind, body, spirit, and the natural world. Unlike Western medicine, which tends to focus on physical symptoms, Shamanic healing seeks to restore harmony by reconnecting individuals with nature, their cultural roots, and the spiritual forces that guide life. Central to this approach is the idea that disconnection from the natural world—something echoed in ecopsychology—depletes our life force, leaving us vulnerable to disease.
How it can help.
Shamanic practitioners, acting as intermediaries between the human and spiritual realms, guide individuals back to balance by addressing these disruptions through rituals and spiritual practices. Similarly, healing may also involve rediscovering one’s cultural and ancestral traditions, as being disconnected from one’s heritage can also contribute to illness. By re-establishing harmony with both the inner self and the larger environment, Shamanic healing allows individuals to realign with their purpose and their community.
At Neuro and Me, we integrate these perspectives into our practice, respecting each individual's spiritual and cultural belief systems, while offering a path to greater harmony and well-being.
